Come, they told me (pa-rum pum pum pum)
Our newborn King to see (pa-rum pum pum pum)
Our finest gifts we bring (pa-rum pum pum pum)
To lay before the King (pa-rum pum pum pum,
rum-pum pum pum, rum-pum pum pum)
So, to honor Him (pa-rum pum pum pum)
When we come.
Baby Jesus (pa-rum pum pum pum)
I am a poor boy too (pa-rum pum pum pum)
I have no gift to bring (pa-rum pum pum pum)
That's fit to give our King (pa-rum pum pum pum,
rum-pum pum pum, rum-pum pum pum,
Shall I play for you (pa-rum pum pum pum)
On my drum?
Mary nodded (pa-rum pum pum pum)
The ox and lamb kept time (pa-rum pum pum pum)
I played my drum for Him (pa-rum pum pum pum)
I played my best for Him (pa-rum pum pum pum,
rum-pum pum pum, rum-pum pum pum)
Then, He smiled at me (pa-rum pum pum pum)
Me and my drum.

This song is SO very special to me! It takes me WAY back to when I was a child growing up in the 70's & 80's. My dad would play it often during Christmastime every year - a vinyl record, of course! My sister, brother and I loved to pretend we were the drummers in the song and we would beat our imaginary drums and sing our hearts out every single time Daddy played it, and then we'd beg for him to play it again! :0) It will forever be my absolute favorite Christmas song, as well as, favorite animated Christmas TV special. Both bring back such treasured memories of our family's Christmas past. Plus, unlike most Christmas shows today, both do a great job explaining the REAL reason we celebrate Christmas every year. I pray this Christmas tradition is one that our entire family will continue to pass down for generations to come.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend with your family. Things are still extremely tough here, but we are maintaining our faith and know the Lord is going to see us through. My family and I truly appreciate all of your continued support through comments, emails, cards and, most of all, your prayers. You ALL are a huge blessing!
Now, before you leave, how 'bout leaving me a quick comment to let me know your favorite childhood Christmas song. Is it still your favorite now? Do you play it for your children? I'd love to know!

I have always loved this song. The ending makes me cry.
I love the song Silver & Gold sung by Burle Ives.
Great to hear from you
Hugs & love,

This has always been one of my favorite songs. I also love Silver Bells. My all time favorite is from high school though. It is the Hallelujah Chorus. We had an awesome concert choir and we would sing this every year during our Vespers concert at the end. I still remember singing with a 103 fever because I refused to miss singing this song with my friends.
My daughter is currently hooked on the the soundtrack to Polar Express. Hot Chocolate! My son likes them all.
I had a Little Drummer Boy record that had this song (of course) along with others and a story. It was one of the few records I owned, and it was so special to me. Thank you for reminding me of Christmas childhood memories!
I love The Little Drummer Boy. It always is one of my favorites. Thank you Teresa. I love O Little Town of Bethlehem. Christmas music is wonderful. Hope you're feeling well today my friend.
I can't say I have a favorite, but this one is a great choice.
<3 that song. <3 you!
I absolutely love `The Little Drummer Boy`
Hey Teresa! Great song and I love all of the old Christmas cartoons. It reminds me of being a little kid:) Hope you are doing well and hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family!!
I don't think I can pick a favorite Christmas Carol (though there are definitely some I prefer to others). :) I discovered your blog today while looking for other bloggers who know what my life is like... It's kind of amazing to discover I'm not alone! :) I just wanted to leave a note and wish you a Merry Christmas!!

I love the drummer boy song. One of my favorite versions is the Bing Crosby/David Bowie one. I always loved the Christmas "cartoon" you pointed out. It was a favorite!
You can find some of my favorites here: http://bluecottonmemory.wordpress.com/2009/12/06/sing-we-now-of-christmas-songs-for-the-season/
I pray that your Christmas season is full of peace and joy!
I actually disliked Little Drummer Boy as a child! In the version on our Christmas cassette, there were deep-voiced men singing the rum-pum-pum part and for some reason I thought they were scary.
I can't remember what my favorite song was then, but for years I have loved the wassail song and have been dying to go wassailing!
I was just stopping by to wish you a happy new year! I hope 2011 sees your financial and medical problems resolved, or at least alleviated.
I want to thank you for following my blog this past year and personally invite you to join me in the next phase of my blogging journey. Of course I understand that you don't always have time or energy to keep up with other bloggers, but if the fancy strikes you, you can find my creative works and dreams at silvertonguedserenade.wordpress.com; coffee reviews at madbarista.wordpress.com; and illustrated life stories at mandarinblue.wordpress.com.
Thanks for your love and support! You are why I do what I do.
