I've always loved this amazing song by Amy Grant. It is written from Mary's perspective and really gives us a true idea of how she must have felt as she prepared to give birth to her son.....to our Lord and Savior. The Son of God!
BREATH OF HEAVEN
I have traveled many moonless nights
Cold and weary, with a babe inside
And I wonder what I've done
Holy Father you have come
And chosen me now, to carry your son.
I am waiting, in a silent prayer
I am frightened, by the load I bear
In a world as cold as stone
Must I walk this path alone?
Be with me now, be with me now.
Breath of Heaven, hold me together
Be forever near me, breath of Heaven
Breath of Heaven, lighten my darkness
Pour over me your holiness, for you are holy,
Breath of Heaven.
Do you wonder when you watch my face,
If a wiser one should have had my place?
But I offer all I am for the mercy of your plan
Help me be strong, help me be strong,
Help me be strong, help me.
Breath of Heaven, hold me together
Be forever near me, breath of Heaven
Breath of Heaven, lighten my darkness
Pour over me your holiness, for you are holy.
Breath of Heaven, hold me together
Be forever near me, breath of Heaven
Breath of Heaven, lighten my darkness
Pour over me your holiness, for you are holy.
Breath of Heaven,
Breath of Heaven,
Breath of Heaven...

Wow, you've been through a lot and have emerged with a great attitude. As a person without a religious upbringing, I wonder if I'd come to believe if faced with a crisis. (I know you believed before your illness; I don't mean to suggest otherwise.) I know religion provides more than a comfort in rough times and I do wish I had that sense of tradition and safety for my daughter, but it's hard to consider if you don't believe. Hmm. Over from SITS and hoping you don't mind my pondering. I intended a fast "hi", but you made me think. Thank you.
i just wanted to stop by and let you know how grateful i am for you in my bloggy life right now. You are a real person, honest and true to yourself like me;) That is why I follow you.

I love this song! It is one of my favorite Amy Grant songs! Isn't she awesome? When I was pregnant with my first daughter I BLARED her music in my car! My Emily would just start kicking around! I use to tell her Amy made her dance before she was born!
This song brings me such joy! Thank you for sharing the lyrics too, my friend! I hope you are doing well. I'm sending you bunches of hugs!!

I love this song =) god bless you during this holiday season !
Hello sweet friend. how are you feeling? I pray you are feeling stronger. I've been absent from blog world a bit, but I think of you and keep you in my prayers.
I so love "The Nativity" that came out a few Christmases ago - we went to see it on Christmas Eve and watched it last year on Christmas EVE.
However, when I watched Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" - the portrayal of Mary his mother went straight to my heart - I could so see the mother in her in me. To just watch those scenes with her is to know the heart of a mother.
Merry Christmas Teresa!
Maryleigh
I love this song. My sister and I sang this with a childrens choir joining on the chorus for a holiday even two years ago and it is something I will never forget!! Listening to it here on your blog had all those memories rushing back!
One of my very favorite Amy Grant songs...one of my favorite Christmas songs, period. The lyrics are so simple and yet so profound.
God bless you and yours during this wondrous season!
Jane
